2013 Kickoff

Check back tomorrow guys. Throughout the day I’ll be posting several vlogs (yes you read that right…plural). Lots of exciting stuff will be uploaded and I can’t wait to share with you all.

Speaking of the new year..anyone have some amazing 2013 resolutions?

Everneath Review

Taken from the back of the dust jacket:

Six months ago, Nikki Beckett vanished into an underworld known as the Everneath.

Now she’s returned-to her old life, her family, her boyfriend-for another six months before she leaves again. This time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her.

Six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for.

Six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Taken from the inside flap:

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she’s returned-to her old life, her family, her boyfriend-before she’s banished back to the underworld . . . This time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance-and the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld ad is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen.
As Nikki’s time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fat and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s queen.
Everneath is a captivating story of love, loss, and immortality from debut author Brodi Ashton.

Everneath is a bitter-sweet retelling of the Persephone myth. A book that will leave you wanting more. However, the set-up for the split is beautiful, and while you still want to know what is going to happen in an odd way you are somewhat satisfied at how this installment ends.

Nikki struggles with her self, to figure out who she really is and what is important to her. Her family. School. Jack. What are the things that are meaningful. Something that is brought up throughout the story.
I found it easy to dive into Nikki’s world and be consumed by the novel. The book is only 370 pages making this a fairly quick read.

Without giving too much more away for those of you who have watched my video. I would say I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

2013 Surprises

Keep an eye out for an upcoming announcement on here as well as  through a vlog at the start of the new year for a fun surprise I am currently working on. Speaking of which. There will also be a post on or around the 3rd of January in conjunction with a project I’ve signed up for with Beth Revis. Get excited!

I try to check this e-mail daily. The exception will be Christmas. After Christmas I’ll return to a normal schedule.

Friday Reads and Other Things

Destroy Me by: Tahereh Mafi
Everneath by: Brodi Ashton

A quick run down of what I’ve been reading this weekend..why I was absent for a few days…and when this randomness will be more of a solid schedule.

Holidays and Weddings

Sooo, I am leaving tomorrow morning to head down the highway to my friends’ wedding. So I’ll be out of town. While I won’t be posting a video today (despite my schedule up on youtube) I still plan on doing a video that will be uploaded Friday for Friday Reads and what I’ll be up to this weekend. Aside from playing on the highway.

Though once I return things will somewhat return to normal. My book release video for next Tuesday will be uploaded on Christmas Eve and not Christmas day..since I’ll be out of town again to visit extended family.

In the meantime I hope everyone is having a great holiday season and is enjoying the Christmas atmosphere. 🙂
